New Orleans Saints linebacker Jairus Byrd, Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes and Indianapolis Colts safety Donte Moncrief all rent cars through car rental companies.
The four players have been the main beneficiaries of car rental trends.
Byrd and Rhodes both hail from the northern city of Chicago.
Rhodes rents a 2010 Honda Fit, while Byrd and Moncrough rent a 2014 Ford Fusion.
All four players play in the NFC North division, which includes the Indianapolis Colts.
“They’re my guys,” Rhodes said.
“I’m in town for a couple weeks and I’m still renting.
I just have to go out and play football.”
Moncough, a member of the Chicago Bears’ Super Bowl championship team, rents a 2013 Ford Fusion, which he also uses for football.
The Packers’ Aaron Rodgers rents a 2012 Ford Focus, which the Packers won the Super Bowl.
The Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson rents a 2015 Ford Expedition and the Chicago Cardinals’ Michael Floyd rents a 2014 Audi A4.
In a league where there is no single-season rental, players from different teams are sharing the same car.
The only player with more than one car rental is Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who rents a 2011 Toyota Camry.
Burfich has been a key contributor to the Bengals’ resurgence since the end of the 2014 season, when he totaled 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
He now rents a 2007 Toyota Prius hybrid.
“The best car is the one you own,” Burfic said.
It is important to rent cars when you are traveling.
“It is a great way to make sure that you’re doing your job well, and it makes you feel good.
And you don’t have to worry about having to leave your house.”
Rental car trends The NFL’s popularity has been on the rise over the last few years.
In 2017, the league’s total revenues reached $4.8 billion, a 9.6 percent increase from the previous year.
Last season, the average annual rental rate was $1,000 per month, a 1.7 percent increase over 2017.
While the average rent for a rental car rose 3.7% from the prior year, it still remains below the NFL average of $2,200 per month.
